Say the name Kennedy in the United States, and most Americans immediately think of the legacy family of politicians. Say the name Manley in Jamaica and it resonates with as much strength, even throughout the Caribbean.

Rachel Manley, poet, novelist and educator (daughter of Michael Manley and granddaughter of Norman Manley – two of Jamaica’s most influential Prime Ministers), will be hosted as a special guest of the Jamaica Cultural Alliance (JCA) at the prestigious Beverly Hills Country Club, 3084 Motor Avenue, Los Angeles, on Sunday, July 12th, 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM.

JCA’s 11th Annual Tea Party program features this extraordinary legacy artist who will read from her acclaimed published works as well as engage with guests in what will be a cordial, literary and culturally enlightening afternoon.

The event will also include a showing by esteemed Jamaican sculptor, Gene Pearson who on March 29, 2006 was awarded Order of  Distinction by the Goverment of Jamaica.  Mr. Pearson is known for his signature Nubian masks and heads.

Jamaica Cultural Alliance (JCA) is a Los Angeles based non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the best of Jamaica - its people and their multi-faceted lifestyles.  JCA seeks to clarify and enhance the image of Jamaica as well as the entire Caribbean.  In pursuing this goal, great achievers of the culture are selected and honored with the JCA Trailblazer Award, JCA Artist Circle Award as well as the JCA Community Service Award.
