The Annual New Jersey International Music Festival, September 20, 2009, Newark, New Jersey

Published Sep 16, 2009

The 9th Annual New Jersey International Music Festival is getting ready to storm the Tri-State region with a lineup of the top names in the game, in both mainstream and Caribbean music. Formerly known as the "New Jersey Reggae Festival," the annual concert is back with a bang for its ninth year, under a new international billing and with an artist roster that proves it. Boasting the hottest acts in hip-hop and rap with Fabolous and Rick Ross, and reggae, dancehall and soca music icons Beenie Man, Machel Montano, Buju Banton, plus crossover dancehall star Magazeen, the festival sets the stage to satisfy every music fan when it takes place on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, New Jersey.

Nine years and still going strong, promoters G. City, RoadBlockRadio.com, RACE Entertainment, Streetz96.com, DJ Antoine Qua of 98.7 KISS FM, and CCB International have revamped the original Caribbean music concept to offer patrons a more diverse experience, as well as more bang for their buck with the top acts in urban music.

This year's headliners all bring massive appeal in their respective genres, from Fabolous - whose newest album Loso's Way topped the Billboard albums chart when it dropped in July, to Rick Ross - whose Deeper Than Rap also debuted at #1 on Billboard's albums chart in April, earning him his third straight #1 album debut, to the 'king of dancehall' in Beenie Man, the 'king of soca' in Machel Montano, and the versatile reggae dancehall megastar Buju Banton - whose recent album Rasta Got Soul also hit Billboard, debuting at #2 on the reggae albums chart back in May, and topping off with Magazeen - whose versatile crossover flavor was recently featured on The Late Show with David Letterman and is one of the few dancehall acts signed to a hip-hop label.

"I'm coming with all my hits from the best rap album of the year," discloses rap superstar Rick Ross. "It will be a great introduction for Maybach Music's dancehall artist Magazeen, who will putting his skills on display alongside the veterans in the game."
