JAMBANA, August 3, 2009, Downsview Park, Canada

Published Jul 22, 2009

JAMBANA rolls into Downsview Park on Monday, August 3, with a sizzling line up of performers and a ton of information on education, health and culture.

Renamed JAMBANA™ from the former Air Jamaica Day, “JAMBANA™ has moved to a larger location to accommodate future growth”, says Executive Producer Denise Jones.  The growth of Air Jamaica Day was significant, from 1000 on Eglinton Avenue, to 10,000 at Gage Park Brampton and 25,000 at Powerade Centre also in Brampton.  “We are delighted to continue the relationship with Air Jamaica as our title sponsor and the team at Downsview Park has been accommodating and we look forward to continued growth as we deliver a Fun For The Family Event.”

The village concept is a J JAMBANA™ feature.  “While those who attend JAMBANA™will rock to reggae and other rhythms, this is a great opportunity to share information on how we can improve our health and learn about travel and business opportunities”, says Marketing Manager Allan Jones.

The Health Village, Travel and Trade Village, Children’s Village, Food Village and Domino Village will add another dimension to JAMBANA™.  “The VIP Village has be added at the request of many, who have asked for an area where we provide seating, an area to dance as well as food and drinks as they watch JAMBANA”  Jones says.  Admission to the VIP Village is $20 and our guests get a complimentary meal, can sit and watch the show as well as a complimentary drink” Tickets are available from ticketgateway.com.

The J JAMBANA™line up is spectacular and will mix reggae rhythms with jazz and gospel.  “There is something for the whole family in this spectacular line up of 11 musical acts, 4 comedians, and 25 dancers”, says Media Manager, Jesse Jones.  SOUL TO SOUL with Grand Master Rosa will fill all the breaks and of course the classic BYRON LEE’S DRAGONAIRES and Canadian Sensation STEELE will lead the line up and rock the house.  BABY BOYZ will delight all ages with their amazing moves and the line up includes NANA McLean’s Gospel and the Latin groves of LUANDA JONES.

“I am certainly looking forward to Laugh Till My Belly Bus with the humour of the Caribbean King of Comedy OLIVER SAMUELS”, says Production Manager Jerimi Jones. “I grew up on Oliver and have got to know and love TERRI SALMON’S comedy.  And the CHARLES TOWN MAROON DRUM AND DANCE ENSEMBLE is something we are really looking forward to.  This is history, education and culture!”

The youngest Jones will work with a production team of 25 to ensure that vendors and sponsors are accommodated well as J JAMBANA™continues to grow.
