The New Voices Of Reggae Music Honors Caribbean-American Heritage Month, June 28, 2009, New York
Reggae Soulsation a special tribute to the icons and legends of reggae will showcase the vocal talents of the new ambassadors of that musical genre on Sunday June 28th 2009 - 7pm at the HA! Club located at 163 West 46th Street in New York City. Special event planning organizations, The NetLinkz Group, Inc & Mahogany Diamond Communications, Inc. both based in New York are combining their efforts to celebrate
June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month by delivering this unique showcase of the new school reggae ambassadors whose talents and musical style range from Lovers Rock, Roots & Culture, Rock Steady & Reggae Fusion to name a few.
The Reggae Soulsation event features an Unplugged, Up Close & Personal musical style of Faraji Bryan (Lovers Rock), Khalilah Rose (Conscious Reggae), New Kingston (Reggae Crossover), Nova Lewis (Roots Reggae) & Shermain Jeremy (Reggae Fusion). Some of these artist are scheduled or will possibly get a chance to perform on one of the top reggae concerts (Brooklyn Music Festival - Saturday, June 20th; Jamrock Magazine Reggaefest - Saturday, July 18th; Irie Jamboree - Sunday, September 6th) in the New York City Tri-State area. At the event, the new school artist will perform their original music and choose cover songs from such reggae icons/legends as Robert Nest Marley, Dennis Brown, Marcia Griffiths, Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs, Freddie McGregor, Garnett Silk, John Holt, Ken Boothe, Leroy Sibbles, Sugar Minott and more to complete their session on stage. The showcase is dubbed a singers edition placing an emphasis on the new school performer's vocal abilities and stage presence to deliver a quality performance.
Also performing is the Ruff Stuff Band considered one of the premiere group of musicians backing all of the solo artists and special surprise appearances by known reggae artists expected to be in attendance at the event. Ready Rock Radio 93.5 FM (WVIP) & The Carib Zone internet disc jockey DJ Patrick will provide musical selections also paying tribute to the icons & legends of reggae music. The Diva Nikki Z of Irie Jam Radio will host this special showcase.
Organizers received a special request was sent by Diandra Patrick grand daughter to reggae icon Lord Creator wanting to know if he would be honored. Ms. Patrick states, "His music is still being sampled by the likes of Paris Hilton and pop group UB40." The organizers are seeking to honor this request in addition to several other requests submitted since posting the Reggae Soulsation event on Facebook.
Reggae Soulsation will prove to be one of the most dynamic event of its kind because of the uniqueness of the artists chosen to perform. The compilation of music to be delivered by these new school artists and disc jockeys should certainly have the audience wanting more and more. The joy and love of reggae music is an addictive experience which is accentuated when the audience can't stop singing their favorite tunes.
Many activities are scheduled to celebrate June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month. A proclamation was issued June 2nd 2009 by President Barack Obama stating "Caribbean Americans have made lasting contributions to our Nation's culture and history, and the month of June has been set aside to honor their cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and social diversity. Generations of immigrants have preserved the traditions of their homelands, and these traditions have defined our Nation's identity. Caribbean Americans bring a unique and vibrant culture. This multilingual and multiethnic tradition has strengthened our social fabric and enriched the diversity of our Nation..."
