Description:
For the third consecutive year, Andrew McManus Presents is pleased to announce that Australia’s largest reggae festival Raggamuffin is set to take Summer stages by storm. With another stellar line up, Raggamuffin 2010 stars eight of reggae’s greatest live on stage - Wyclef Jean (from The Fugees), Shaggy, Julian Marley, Blue King Brown, Sly & Robbie, Steel Pulse, Sean Kingston and House of Shem.

Raggamuffin promoter Andrew McManus says, “This year’s Raggamuffin is going to be bigger than ever and promises an amazing day of music. We are excited that an artist of the calibre of Wyclef is going to be joining the line-up. Festival goers are going to be in for something special!”

Headlining Ragamuffin in 2010 is WYCLEF JEAN. Best known as a Grammy winning artist who has sold over 30 million records and toured the world, both with The Fugees and as a solo artist will be performing songs from his brand new album, “Music Theory”. Since his successful collaboration with Shakira on “Hips Don’t Lie”, Wyclef has embarked on a new chapter in his ever-evolving career. His talents as a producer and collaborator have led to a myriad of successful projects over the past two decades including recordings with Bono ("New Day"), writing and producing Carlo Santana's "Supernatural," which won the Grammy for Album of the Year, and Whitney Houston's "My Love Is Your Love”.

Following the April 2009 release of “Awake” JULIAN MARLEY will be performing to celebrate the music and message of all the family who have come before. His soulful vocals, hypnotic beats and the roots-reggae sound combined with street energy hip-hop deliver a smooth combination that is very much his own.

After 20 million album sales, 11 worldwide Top Ten singles, and a Grammy award, SHAGGY is still on the grind! The ska classic ‘Oh Carolina’ introduced the world to Shaggy and hits like ‘It Wasn’t Me’ and ‘Angel’ from his juggernaut album ‘Hotshot’ consolidated him as one of Jamaica’s finest musical exports – and that’s saying something! Shaggy is doing his part to make good music, make a difference and prove that the ‘World Is Just One Big Yard!!’

On their first Raggamuffin tour SLY & ROBBIE, the modern masters of rhythm will bring their own brand of reggae to the bill in 2010. Sly & Robbie met in the 70’s while playing in different groups, they clicked musically and have been living and creating their own rhythm ever since.

Australia’s own BLUE KING BROWN is a welcome addition to the 2010 line-up. Hailed by Santana as “the voice of the street and the band of the future” this 8 to 11 piece powerhouse band will bring their cross-generational grooves and socially conscious sound to prove that they are one of Australia’s greatest acts.

STEEL PULSE, the UK’s only Grammy Award winning Reggae group have explored various styles since they started out in 1975 but when it comes to the message they have remained close to their roots and always continue their commitment to deliver the positive messages through spiritually up lifting music.

International platinum selling artist SEAN KINGSTON will get the crowd grooving to an awesome selection of his feel-good anthems. A vibrant fusion of pop, doo-wop and reggae, Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls” single made history as one of the fastest ascents up the Billboard Hot 100 charts ever, eventually climbing to number 1. The collection of pop-fueled songs that make up the new album “Tomorrow”, will be sure to get the crowd on-song.

Hailing from Aotearoa, New Zealand HOUSE OF SHEM will once again deliver Raggamuffin fans an unforgettable performance with their rare mix of power and harmony within their own unique blend of traditional and contemporary reggae styles, no doubt giving the legends of reggae a run for their money.

Along with everyone’s favourite reggae tunes, there will be hip-hop, funk, dub and soul to keep everyone grooving, as well as plenty of places to chill out. As they say in Jamaica, it’s going to be bashy!
