This year’s illustrious Restaurant Week will extend beyond the vibrant city of Kingston. The well-known event that has driven hosts of culinary enthusiasts to Kingston’s most elegant restaurants will now share the spotlight with top notch restaurants from Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, giving patrons an even greater array of menus from which to choose. From November 7-14, 45 participating restaurants will serve up their signature dishes and finest fare at heavily discounted prix fixe rates. Inspired menus will offer a three-course meal, including appetizer, main course and dessert, in settings that reflect the island’s extraordinary cultural diversity.
 
“With the addition of Montego Bay and Ocho Rios to the menu of restaurants, locals and visitors alike will have a chance to experience other unique flavors the island has to offer,” Director of Tourism John Lynch commented. “Jamaica has a dynamic culinary culture and Restaurant Week is the ideal setting for people to savor the cities.”

Celebrating a Vibrant History
There is good reason why Kingston is widely known as the “heartbeat of Jamaica.” An intense cultural melting pot that inspired the powerful lyrics of Bob Marley and continues to spark the rhythms of reggae and dancehall, Kingston was celebrated in decades past for its elite clubs and elegant entertainment spots. Now an exciting renaissance is recreating the grandeur of former times, as visitors to Restaurant Week will experience first-hand.  
 
A strong sense of history prevails at places like Norma’s on the Terrace located at Devon House, a 19th-century stately mansion built and occupied by the first black Jamaican millionaire who became a leading figure in the city’s high society. Sports memorabilia set the scene at Cuddy’z, established by cricket legend Courtney (Cuddy) Walsh, who once held the world record for the most test wickets taken.

Easy elegance is the hallmark of restaurants in the Kingston hotels. Participating venues include the Regency Room at Terra Nova, the Hilton Palm Court and the Spanish Court Café at the Spanish Court Hotel. Ethnic and Jamaican flavors fuse deliciously at restaurants like Jewel of India and Habibi Latino in Kingston or, if your taste buds venture to the North Coast,  Evita’s in Ocho Rios and Chilitos in Montego Bay are sure to provide palate pleasing fusion cuisine.
