Souldance Slated For South Florida Launch, November 2, 2009

Published Oct 30, 2009

Jamaica’s Consul General to the Southern United States Region, Mrs. Sandra Grant-Griffiths, will be a special guest at the launch of Jean Lowrie-Chin’s book Souldance on Monday November 2nd in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Also participating will be veteran Jamaican broadcaster, Winston Barnes who is a Commissioner for the City of Miramar in Broward County, Florida.

Jean will read from her collection of poetry and prose, Souldance, published in Jamaica in December 2008, to enthusiastic reviews. As well as being a successful entrepreneur, founder and director of the public relations firm PROComm, she is actively involved in many charitable and civic organizations including the Women’s Media Watch, Press Association, Stella Maris Foundation and Food for The Poor.  Jean will be donating part proceeds of her book sales at the library event to benefit Food for the Poor.  Susan James, Food for the Poor’s Project Director for Jamaica, will be the guest speaker and will share information on their island-wide school room project Save Me A Seat.

While in Florida, Jean will be supporting another organization dear to her heart, Alpha Academy. She will read from Souldance on Saturday Oct 31 at the Alpha Academy Alumnae Florida fundraiser at the CB Smith Park in Miramar, committing part proceeds to the Sister Mary Bernadette Little Scholarship Fund.

Souldance was published in Jamaica by Ian Randle Publishers and copies will be available at the Broward Library event which is free and open to the public. The South Regional-Broward College Library is located at 7300 Pines Blvd. Pembroke Pines.
