Published Apr 24, 2013NEW YORK, NY. Monday, April 22, 2013 -- The prized Community Development Partnership (CODPAR) Award for 2013, will be presented to two individuals whose faces have become synonymous with the corporate image of their companies.
Patrick Jolly, president of Tower Isles (Patties) Frozen Foods, whose philanthropic endeavors knows no bounds, and Andrea Owen Boyd, financial consultant with AXA Advisors, LLC, will accept the signature blue flame, crystal statue, presented by the Comets Club International (CCI), based in Queens, NY.
“Each year, the CCI Executive Committee (EC) searches far and wide for an outstanding individual or organization to be recognized for demonstrating exceptional corporate and community responsibility, with some emphasis on youth development and mentorship”, noted Linda Graham, committee chair.
A benefactor of the several community endeavors, Tower Isles’ famous yellow jackets have been helping to keep our student athletes warm when they are not in the heat of competition at the annual Penn Relays Carnival I Philadelphia.
AXA Advisors, LLC have stepped in at the right time, in a significant partnership with the Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA), Inc to recognize and support graduating high school seniors of Jamaican heritage in New York
Hon. Herman G. LaMont, Consul General of Jamaica to New York, who has kindly consented to be patron of the event, will present the awards and citations at the club’s annual charity dinner on Saturday, May 11, at 9:00 pm at The Z Party Hall, 92-07 172nd Street (Jamaica Aveenue/172nd Street), Jamaica, Queens.
“Our honorees this year continue to demonstrate a willingness to partner with a number of community initiatives despite economic constraints and for that, we salute them on this special occasion,” according to Judith Hutchinson, president of CCI.
After taking an entry-level position with what was then a fledging company in 1974, offering beef patties (turn-overs), a Jamaican delicacy, Patrick stayed the course, climbing every rung of the corporate ladder. 39 years later, he is the president and owner of the company, now one of the largest manufacturer of the Jamaican staple in the USA.
The need for fiscal prudence in communities of color has never been more urgent. Thus, the long term commitment by Andrea of AXA Advisors, LLC, sets the company apart. The key areas of her focus are financial education and sound financial strategies for individuals, families and business owners.
By educating her clients, Andrea believes that that they will be in a better position to make informed decisions about their financial future.
She also supports Health Care initiatives. This focus has been deliberate and intentional and geared towards a collaboration among leaders and individuals to grow financial wealth and health within the community.
And in keeping with the significance of the weekend, CCI will recognize three mothers ‘whose daughters have made them a proud parent’. Two of the mothers have a long standing relationship with the organization, while the other is a certified health & wellness coach and a community activist.
Corporate partners this year include; TransContinental Express Shippers, Irie Jam Media Group, UJAA (USA), Inc, Iriedale.com, IMC Media Group, Be.Well.Now.Enterprise and The Gleaner Company/NA.
