I was not there on August 11 for this diplomatic bash. One thing I am sure about is that the evening was a classic or class act. The Jamaican community in DC know how to organize social events. I met Ambassador Bernard years ago with Premier PJ Patterson at the Marriott; it is nice he's still in charge. I have attended a Byron Lee & Dragoneers bash at the Regency years back and it was massive. I can picture the colorful night with YELLO,BLACK and GREEN color , the feel good speeches , Red Stripe beer flowing ,patties,jerk chicken wings and the Jamaica Pride 'whining" to Marleys "ONE LOVE" ; "Oh Jamaica, oh Jamaica you are always on my mind", Jimmy Cliff will croon. Happy 50th Jamaica, One Love!!
