Jamaica Trip Report: Day 4 & 5 – Blue House, Beach, Knutsford Express Shuttle, Election day, Doctor Caves Beach Hotel Today was our last day at the Blue House and we had only one mission; to get to the beach. It was also Election Day in Jamaica. Breakfast at The Blue House was good as usual. First there were fruits, banana, pineapple and water melon. Then there was freshly squeezed orange juice at the table. Next came the cassava pancakes with an almond & banana syrup.
Jamaica Trip Report: Day 3 – The Blue House, Mystic Mountain We were up in time for the 9:00 am breakfast at The Blue House. Breakfast consisted of Ackee & Saltfish, Fried Breadfruit, toasted hardo bread, pak choy and freshly squeezed orange juice. Coffee and tea was available in the dining area. We had breakfast close to the balcony where there were 2 bird feeders parallel to each other. Humming Birds (Doctor birds) were going back and forth from the trees to the feeder. I kept trying to get a good picture of the birds.
Jamaica Trip Report: Day 2 – Emerson Paradise Villas, Meeting Family, The Blue House I woke up at 7:00 am and walked outside to see the sunrise. It was a great quiet time as I watched the sunrise with a cool breeze from the sea behind me. Milton and Patricia brought breakfast to the villa at 9:30 am. It was nice breakfast of steamed cabbage with carrots, pick-up saltfish, boiled white & yellow yam and boiled green banana. We had Blue Mountain coffee and fruit juices.
Jamaica Trip Report - Road Trip To Negril To say that the last 2 weeks have been stressful is an understatement. So, not one to wallow in unhappiness and stress and strain, I hastily planned a weekend doing some of the things I enjoy best! The yells of joy when I informed Little Master and Miss World confirmed that I had made the right decision. ROAD TRIP! Yep, I absolutely love a good drive out, and the state of our roads notwithstanding, the Jamaican countryside is soooooo beautiful. I decided to head west to my all time favourite place on the island: Negril.
Jamaica Trip Report: Day 1 – Montego Bay, The Fish Hut, Emerson Paradise Villas After a hectic second-half of the year it was time for a vacation. I was pleasantly surprised at the customer service provided to us by the Air Jamaica/Caribbean Airlines representatives who greeted us at the ticket counter, at the gate and on the plane. The pleasant greeting may also be because it was the Christmas Season. The flight left on time and arrived into Montego Bay early.

Jamaica Trip Report - Not sure what to call it..a quickie I'm doing this first part live from the veranda at the Wexford in Montego Bay....All of this talk about Jamaica and tourism gave me a JOnes that I could not fill, so I had two days with nothing to do and wanted to see what it was like to fly over for one day and come right back.
Jamaica Trip Report - Soon come.... Am in Jamaica (Negril) and having an amazing time....right now it is pissing down - or raining heavily, in normal parlance....and was checking my email, so now I'm kinda hanging out at the internet cafe, waiting for the rain to ease before moving on. I am on the cliffs and am walking down, hmm, may end up jumping in a taxi....Last night went to a place in the country near here, where they had a sound system, speakers hanging in the trees, blasting out reggae, it was great.
Jamaica Trip Report - Feeling De Evening Breeze & More Another year, another mission trip. July 11th was circled on our calendars from the start of the year, and after months of planning and putting things together, the day had finally arrived. The group of six was extremely excited because without much deliberation we have agreed to bypass the "tourist" stuff we usually do in the days and use the time for mission purposes. We agreed that we would hold 4 days - Monday to Thursday - of Vacation Bible School (VBS), this in addition to nightly pre-service ministry meetings for women and five nights of services. We had a packed agenda. I would be on the island for 12 days; a week in St. Bess and the rest of the time primarily in Kingston.
Jamaica Trip Report - Here and There in Kingston Town As is customary, there was very little sleep the night before I left. Airport check-in was a breeze. I saw familiar faces at the check-in desk. They announce a full flight and begin the boarding process. Everyone was on board, so we left 20 minutes early!!!!
Jamaica Trip Report - May 2010 travels There were 3 of us for 5 days in Negril. We stayed at Bar B Barn. We totally enjoyed that property and already have my next trip booked. We did a lot "off the beaten path adventures" this trip, just driving different roads...
Jamaica Trip Report - Ice Cream & Auto Parts "Is this your first time to Jamaica?" - With just a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, the young lady at the Immigration desk asked me this as she flipped through page after page of Jamaican entrance stamps in my passport.....with a similar smile and a brief shake of my head, yet another stamp was added to the passport....Other than a brief wait for our luggage, the airport was a breeze; in fact, we probably waited longer for our bags than we waited at Immigration and Customs combined....less than an hour after wheels down, I had a cold Stripe in my hand....

Jamaica Trip Report - March At Home It’s taken me a full week to recover in getting back. As soon as I got to NY, I had to go to work the next day and of course, I was completely slammed. Just coming up for air. This aint really a true, true trip report at all tho, suh mek mi wahn oonu fram no! I don't have any pictures of plates of food and I wish I didn't have to go to the 2 unexpected funerals that came about. The trip was primarily for work – the first week and a half was anyway – a Stolzoff documentary that’s being made ... and that’s all I can say about that for now. Afterwards, I managed to finagle another couple weeks out of my job to let me stay longer.

A Jamaica Volunteer Vacation I’ll Never Forget My students and I had arrived very late at the Norman Manley International Airport on a balmy Wednesday evening. After traveling by bus and winding our way through the busy night time streets of Kingston, we finally arrived at our Smokey Manor vacation site way up in the mountains.
Who Says You Can't See Kingston Jamaica like a Tourist - Day 3 & 4: Shopping, Hellshire, Party, Club and Spanish Court Hotel We were up early that morning as we had a lot to do. My cousin was coming for us later that morning to take us to see some relatives I have in Portmore. First we wanted to do some shopping. My wife’s aunt was taking us to a few places to get some Jamaican shirts. I love wearing my Jamaican colors, especially when I travel to other countries. It’s an icebreaker as most people see the flag and ask about Usain Bolt, Bob Marley, Reggae or something Jamaican. Our first stop was at Sovereign.
Who Says You Can't See Kingston Jamaica like a Tourist - Day 2: Country side tour and Blue Mountain walk We asked for a wakeup call after a long day yesterday. It was early in the morning. Our host is Maureen Wright –Evans the owner of Jamaica Adventure Secret and Smokey Manor, a bed & breakfast in Smokeyvale. Maureen is a Jamaican gem. She is passionate about Jamaica and very energetic. The energy is infectious especially early in the morning.
Who Says You Can't See Kingston Jamaica like a Tourist - Day 1: Port Royal We took a late AirJamaica flight. It was the flight that everyone always complaints of being late. Well the flight arrived on time. In fact we got in early and had to call to say we were at the airport. This is the second time we took Air Jamaica this year and it was on time. We arrived at my wife’s aunt house to Escovitch fish waiting for dinner.
Jamaica to Cuba - Part 3 Today is our last day in Cuba. As usual we went to breakfast. After breakfast I had to change some Euros at Cambio before leaving. While in line I was questioned by a German tourist who asked if Jamaicans are prejudice. He was afraid to go because someone in Germany told him Jamaicans are prejudiced. I assured him we were not and that it was safe to go to Jamaican.
Jamaica to Cuba - Part 2 We awoke at 7.00am to get an early start before our city tour. Our package included breakfast so we headed to the hotel’s main restaurant. The restaurant was packed. It was a buffet style continental breakfast except for the eggs. One of the things we enjoyed was the gentleman who cooked our eggs. He seemed so contented in what he did and had a great smile on his face. He was one of the few people who seemed really happy while we were in Cuba.
Jamaica to Cuba Part 1 We got to the airport very early. The check-in process to Cuba was complicated. The boarding passes and documentation were for Cubana airlines even though we would be traveling Air Jamaica. There seems to have been some mix-up with our itinerary so the ticket agent had to reprint all our documents. The ticket agent reminded us to be sure that we had our all important visa card. This is the document that Cuban immigration would stamp for entry and exit from the country. They would not stamp your passport as long as you have this card. You can buy the visa card in Jamaica through the Airline or travel agencies that provide service to Cuba.

My visit to "Fi Wi Sinting" - Somerset Falls in Portland, Jamaica On Sunday April 15, 2008 I travelled with a friend to Somerset Falls in Portland, Jamaica to attend the Fi Wi Sinting event. I heard about this festival when Pauline Petinaud (aka Sista P) was being interviewed on Junior Jawara Blake’s 93.5 wvip radio program. I was so impressed by what I was hearing that I made a promise to attend the culturama in Jamaica.

Negril & Legends fit the bill once again - Jamaica Trip Report We just got back on Sunday from another awesome Negril trip. Don't Teach Your Garbage To Swim - Jamaica Trip Report This last visit was very different for me, but not in a bad way...I've been having a hard time trying to explain it, so the best I can do for now is to say that it wasn't so much a vacation as it was my moving my life, my day-to-day existence, from New York to Jamaica...I've never felt uncomfortable there, but I reached a level of comfort that really surprised me....for example, there were entire days that we didn't take pictures, in fact we have no photos from our first two days...
