6 Years a Tourist

Published Sep 1, 1998

We first started visiting Jamaica was in 1987. We've probably made more than a couple dozen trips since then. Typically we go to Negril--to party-- but now we want to take our 2 teenaged sons to the island.

Since we've been travelling there for 10 years we're looking at possibly retiring there. Does anyone have suggestions for travelling with teenagers (both of whom we do not wish to expose too much to the drug scene) and what would be the tips for possible land purchase or development for our retirement? Please be candid. Since our first trips, it appears that the countryside from MoBay to Negril has decinegrated...there is much more pollution and trash. Is there a way for us to take part in a "clean up" as investors?
