Golding administration discloses consultantsí pay

Prime Minister Bruce Golding.The Bruce Golding Administration has admitted to spending just over $10 million more annually to pay for the services of consultants and advisors employed in the government service.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding finally responded to repeated queries on this issue during Tuesday afternoon's sitting of the House of Representatives.

After months of public and parliamentary speculation and enquiry, the Prime Minister Tuesday admitted that his Government <span style="font-weight: bold">currently employs 48 consultants and advisors </span>across all ministries <span style="font-weight: bold">at a cost of $137 million a year</span>.

He <span style="font-weight: bold">compared</span> this <span style="font-weight: bold">to the 52 consultants and advisors employed by the previous administration at a cost of $127 million.</span>
However Opposition member Ronald Thwaites who has for weeks been pressing the government to provide information on the emoluments paid to consultants, says the information provided to the House does not give him all the answers.

Mr. Golding stated that critical information is still being collected and will be made available early next year.
